However, for some reason, the value calculated by the formula does not update automatically. We already had the calculation options set to automatic and didn't know why values weren't updating.
I am having to click on the formula bar, then I have to click enter for the formula cell to do its thing. F9 and Shift F9 didn't help and left the values the same.
Ctrl F9 not only updated the values, but fixed the problem so it didn't happen again.
I'm not sure I understand the edit links part though, kindly advise.
The forward DNS entries ("A" records) for windows machines on the domain are populated automatically.
If there is consistency, or if you can always name a working copy of workbook2 the same, you can probably define it's data range and your vlookup formulas can remain unchanged.thanks!
that's what I had in mind but wanted to be sure it's possible and will work as I have not tried it before.
Workbook1 has a table that uses VLOOKUP to get data from workbook2.
I would like to know if I can use VBA to automate the part where I am changing the VLOOKUP formula to define the newly generated workbook2 and dragging the formula to all the cells to populate the table in workbook1.
